• Three nights in Baku with hotel accommodation and daily breakfast, a trip that covers the city’s landmarks, its stranger natural sights, and a fair bit of history along the way.
• In the city itself, you’ll see the Flame Towers, the Baku TV Tower, and the old walled city, Icheri Sheher, with the Maiden Tower and Shirvanshahs Palace inside it. There’s the funicular up to Highland Park for the panoramic view over the city and the Caspian, plus Nizami Street, Fountains Square, Baku Boulevard along the sea, and the striking Heydar Aliyev Center.
• Out on the Absheron Peninsula, things get more unusual: the Ateshgah Fire Temple and Yanardag, the “burning mountain” where natural flames come straight out of the hillside and have for centuries. You’ll also stop at the Bibi-Heybat Mosque and one of the country’s early oil wells.
• Further out, Gobustan National Park, a UNESCO site with thousands of ancient rock carvings, and the mud volcanoes nearby, which are exactly as odd and worth seeing as they sound. There’s also the Green Bazaar in the city for local produce, spices, nuts and sweets.
• Airport transfers and transport are arranged to suit the group, with a guide in your preferred language. Entrance fees are covered for the funicular, Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs Palace, Ateshgah, Yanardag, Gobustan and the mud volcanoes, so the main sights are paid for upfront, not an extra on the day.
